Tess Kimmel, Senco

In 2003 I gained a BA Hons in English and History; then qualifying as a teacher in 2005 obtaining a PGCE in General Primary with Qualified Teacher Status.  I’ve worked at St. Mary’s Preschool since 2016 whilst my own twins still attended here.  I have also been a member of the preschool committee and relished the opportunity to raise the profile of the preschool and take part in fund raising.  I believe that St. Mary’s has given my own children the best start to becoming school ready, happy and confident children.  The transition into school life was absolutely seamless and it was extremely reassuring as a parent to know that I’d given them the best possible start.

Prior to working at St. Mary’s, I worked as a teacher in Leeds, London and Manchester in both mainstream and specialist schools across all key stages but predominantly within early years.  I have also worked as an outreach teacher offering support to children with additional needs within early years settings and supporting staff with training and advice.  I’m extremely passionate about working with children with special educational needs and disabilities and breaking down any barriers to their learning they might face.

I’m a mum of three beautiful boys and love to be outside with them as much as possible trying to burn off some of their endless energy!
