We have had an exciting few months at St Mary’s preschool.
Our new leader, Lynn, and deputy leader, Lizzie, have made a great start to their new roles while our children have enjoyed playing with some lovely new toys, including new dolls, wind up toys and puzzles. Our outdoor area has had some excellent new storage installed to store our ride on toys. No more wet bottoms when our children use our three cosy cars, trikes and other big outside toys! We would like to thank the Round Table for their very generous donation that allowed us to make this important improvement.
Our children have continued to enjoy their Spanish lessons and have loved taking part in Eco Worriors on a Thursday morning. Jan, from Catterpiller Music, has joined us on a Tuesday morning and the children are loving their lively music lessons.
We have lots more planned for the next half term. We will be doing weekly adventures into the grounds of Cherry Tree School for nature walks and fun on the pirate ship. We are also planning an exciting trip on the bus to Lymm Library!

We look forward to hearing from you!
What a great day we had – sunshine, paddling pools, fishing nets, playing in the sand and even the ice cream van …. a huge thank you to all the staff involved in making seaside day such a success. It was thoroughly enjoyed by all the children – what a treat!
It doesn’t seem that long ago that the ground was being dug to make way for the log cabin. The final pieces of work were done over the holidays and the cabin is now ready to be used for our small group activities, quiet time, special arts projects, story time, the list is endless but one thing is for sure, all of our children will benefit from this latest addition.
The money used to buy the log cabin came from the fundraising we did last year – mainly the auction of promises and the disco. Due to the number of parents we had helping out last year on the Rotary Santa Float we received a very generous donation from the Lymm Rotary Club which enabled us to buy a heating/air conditioning unit for the cabin making it suitable for all year round use. Thank you for supporting our fundraising events – it really does make a difference!
Thank you to everyone who was able to attend the unveiling of the plaque which is a thank you to all the families who were involved in our ‘sponsor a fence panel’ fundraiser last year. It was lovely to see so many families from past and present and we hope you enjoyed the tea and cakes too. We are very lucky at St Mary’s to have such supportive parents and staff.
Spring is in the air [hopefully!] and that means the garden at pre-school is going to need some attention. We are lucky that the council cuts our grass in the summer months but we will still need to keep on top of the edges and the areas where the council lawn mower can’t reach. The committee is proposing that on the first Thursday of every month, straight after drop off we will spend some time keeping the garden tidy. The more people who can join us the more fun it will be and the less time it will take. The aim is for it to take less than an hour. Please join us and help keep our pre-school garden looking good!
A big thank you to everyone who supported our disco last Saturday. It was a huge success and it looked like the children, parents and grandparents were having a great time!
We raised over £800 for our lovely pre-school which is an amazing amount.
How exciting – work is starting today, preparing the foundations for our new log cabin. It won’t be ready to use for a few weeks yet but when it is ready it will provide additional space for small group activities. It is going to be double glazed and heated so we will be nice and warm in there too, even if it is cold outside.
Keep checking for more updates on the build!
19th March – Today the cabin has been painted. It will take a couple of days to paint the entire cabin. Later this week the electric supply will be installed and the flooring will be put in. We have booked for the heating unit to be fitted on the 27th March and then the cabin should be ready for us to use – we really cannot wait!
Our yoga classes are so popular with the children. Everyone is enjoying all those stretches and relaxation. Namaste!
Thursday 1st March 2018 is World Book Day. At St Mary’s we LOVE everything about books so please come to pre-school dressed as your favourite character from a book and bring your favourite book with you.
We will be celebrating by drawing and writing about our favourite books and characters and we may meet some teddy bears along the way!
